There are a few pleasures in life which one cannot deny
oneself, wine is one and whiskey another. Then there are pleasures in life,
which are so rare that when one has an opportunity to savor them a little
shiver runs down the spine…the head feels giddy…eyes light up…and resistance
goes to hell! One such pleasure for me is Old Monk Rhum. Its strong, tastes
funny, smells like medicine and mixes best with diet Pepsi (at least for me :P)
– it reminds me of best friends, my brother’s wedding, my sister-in-law, my
first love, rainy nights, crazy nights, park benches, speeding cars, bonfires,
hiding in bathrooms – it reminds me of all that I have gained and some that I
have lost. I have missed this little fat bottle filled with dark, dark pleasure
since I have come o France – lets just face it, the French can do wine but not
Rhum!

It IS a very interesting place. |

Bottle of Old Monk Part 2 |
And last night wandering around in the streets of Bastille
we stumbled across the strangest little bar with a Pirate Theme. And what do
they serve – Rhum Of course! Rhums from around the world and wonders of all
wonders – they serve Old Monk!!!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw it on
the list, they even had a bottle decorating the wall. Yes one peg in Paris
costs as much as a whole bottle does back in India but I have finally found a
place here that serves up liquid black gold in a glass.
No prize for guessing which bar is going to be my new
favorite now!
