Cat in a Ringer

There is such a thing as a catch 22 and then there is that situation you get yourself into just because. A few weeks of running on a mix of adrenaline and strange hormonal activity has left me with a head rush that keeps me up and brings me crashing down in phases – like a roller coaster only not of the physical or emotional kind – just the kind that makes me want to throw up!

There is a creature that I want to tame and take home with me but I feel that if I were to leave it wouldn’t care. Its nerve wracking when I see him suddenly in places I never expect and it’s ridiculous that his eyes change color! I have a fever – the kind that is called a crush… Yes you heard it here – Kitten has a crush and she is perdu dans je ne sais quai :/

Panic In The Streets of JOUY!

The past two days have been – well – panic filled – the kind that pumps you with so much adrenaline that you can’t sleep or eat or breathe sometimes – a lot like falling in love without the commitment.

Aside from the huge huge ‘MBAT 2012’, which seems to be driving all of us up the wall, there has been intense drama regarding my French Visa renewal process (Student services conveniently leaves out details) and I managed to drop my phone (read lifeline) in the toilet (we will not discuss details) just before the damn MBAT!!!

Long story cut short I ‘fished’ the phone out of the toilet bowl AND managed to dry the phone out by keeping it in a bowl of rice for 24 hours – this works really well for the iPhone since it even beat the water damage sensor – got the phone working only to find out that the fall had damaged the chip holder. I took out an hour from a crazy $#@&%* schedule to go to the apple store and found a (cute) dude hanging out in a black staff T-shirt who looked like he had absolutely nothing to do. So, I pulled my cutest kitten-in-distress look and asked him ‘parlez vous anglez?’ and well took it on to a complete lost/innocent flirt level – let’s just say that I came away with a new phone (despite water damage which rice grains cured) and the phone number of a cute guy :P BTW it turned out he looked like he had nothing to do because he is the business head of the area lol. So, ladies next time you drop your iPhone in water try rice grains and if that does not work try flirting with a bored looking business manager :P

As for Visa renewal – that’s coming along – after all the wonderful confusion and delays I did manage to get the documents! And as for the MBAT – well Ready. Set. Game On!!!!!!!!!!

The Old Monk in Paris

There are a few pleasures in life which one cannot deny oneself, wine is one and whiskey another. Then there are pleasures in life, which are so rare that when one has an opportunity to savor them a little shiver runs down the spine…the head feels giddy…eyes light up…and resistance goes to hell! One such pleasure for me is Old Monk Rhum. Its strong, tastes funny, smells like medicine and mixes best with diet Pepsi (at least for me :P) – it reminds me of best friends, my brother’s wedding, my sister-in-law, my first love, rainy nights, crazy nights, park benches, speeding cars, bonfires, hiding in bathrooms – it reminds me of all that I have gained and some that I have lost. I have missed this little fat bottle filled with dark, dark pleasure since I have come o France – lets just face it, the French can do wine but not Rhum!

Bottle of Old Monk Part 1
The Strange Bar.

It IS a very interesting place.

Bottle of Old Monk Part 2
And last night wandering around in the streets of Bastille we stumbled across the strangest little bar with a Pirate Theme. And what do they serve – Rhum Of course! Rhums from around the world and wonders of all wonders – they serve Old Monk!!!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw it on the list, they even had a bottle decorating the wall. Yes one peg in Paris costs as much as a whole bottle does back in India but I have finally found a place here that serves up liquid black gold in a glass.

No prize for guessing which bar is going to be my new favorite now!
